Experience Te Puke — Kiwifruit Capital of the World is breathing life back into Te Puke’s historic Capitol Theatre. After the building sat closed for more than three years, the society behind the project took over the lease in 2025 and is transforming it into a heritage and visitor experience that tells the district’s stories — with the kiwifruit story at its heart.
The brief
Stand up a reliable digital home and back-end for a major community heritage project — a website to share the vision and promote events and film screenings, plus the hosting, email and behind-the-scenes setup to keep it all running.

Why it matters
More than a museum or a visitor centre, Experience Te Puke is a “true experience” — the kiwifruit story, mana whenua and community histories, and the return of cinema and events to the town centre. The Te Puke Economic Development Group is a strategic partner, and the kiwifruit experience is set to open in 2026.
